NoMad, London

The NoMad Hotel: A Landmark Reimagined
Located in the heart of Covent Garden, adjacent to the Royal Opera House, The NoMad Hotel occupies the historic Bow Street Magistrates’ Court—a building with a rich and storied past.

Honouring Heritage, Embracing Modernity

The project involved the complete transformation of a Grade II listed 19th-century magistrates’ court and adjoining police station into a five-star luxury hotel. The design introduced modern elegance while preserving the building’s historic character, creating a destination that includes a private club, an elegant ballroom, and world-class dining spaces.

Designing Within Constraints

Working within the limitations of the existing structure and its urban surroundings, the team faced the challenge of maximising guest accommodation and enhancing the food and beverage offering without compromising heritage or quality.

Smart Space Solutions

To deliver an exceptional guest experience, the design team optimised every available space. By revisiting early concept sketches, the rooftop plant layout was rationalised to reduce its footprint and height, enabling the addition of three extra bedrooms on the floor below. An external plant design was also developed to meet strict noise and air-quality requirements.

NoMad Hotel has become one of London’s most celebrated destinations—welcoming guests from around the world and continuing the building’s remarkable legacy for generations to come.
