Feldon Valley Golf Club and Hotel

Feldon Valley is a charming 18-hole golf club, complete with stunning  views of the Cotswold Hills. The clubhouse is being extensively  refurbished and extended, with new kitchen/restaurant facilities and  a new gym area. Added to this, the project involves construction of a brand new hotel and a series of self-contained woodland lodges.

Testing the limit.

The site had a limited existing electrical supply capacity and no natural  gas infrastructure available. To use the existing utility infrastructure, we  recommended LPG boilers for space heating and hot water generation  in the clubhouse and hotel. In turn, these also serve heat interface units  in each of the remote lodges. By crafting this combination of natural  ventilation and high-efficiency mechanical and electrical services, we  could keep the electricity demand within the existing supply capacity.

Hidden in the landscape.

The development has been designed to blend aesthetically with the  environment – and our solutions for the project took a similar approach.  The MEP services, acoustic, and fire strategies were all developed to  achieve the desired transparency of the accommodation, while delivering  highly energy-efficient operation without compromising the quality of the  spaces.

As it was a sensitive rural site, we used thermal modelling to help to  identify what type of low-carbon solutions would be acceptable to the  planning authorities. Our acoustic and fire engineering expertise was also  instrumental in developing accommodation that was as open as possible  to the surrounding environment but meant guests could still enjoy  peaceful, safe spaces in this idyllic spot.
