The clubhouse is being extensively&nbsp; refurbished and extended, with new kitchen\/restaurant facilities and&nbsp; a new gym area. Added to this, the project involves construction of a <\/strong><strong>brand new<\/strong><strong> hotel and a series of self-contained woodland lodges.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Testing the<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>limit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The site had a limited existing electrical supply capacity and no natural&nbsp; gas infrastructure available. To use the existing utility infrastructure, we&nbsp; recommended LPG boilers for space heating and hot water generation&nbsp; in the clubhouse and hotel. In turn, these also serve heat interface units&nbsp; in each of the remote lodges. By crafting this combination of natural&nbsp; ventilation and high-efficiency mechanical and electrical services, we&nbsp; could keep the electricity demand within the existing supply capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hidden in the<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>landscape.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The development has been designed to blend aesthetically with the&nbsp; environment \u2013 and our solutions for the project took a similar approach.&nbsp; The MEP services, acoustic, and fire strategies were all developed to&nbsp; achieve the desired transparency of the accommodation, while delivering&nbsp; highly energy-efficient operation without compromising the quality of the&nbsp; spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As it was a sensitive rural site, we used thermal modelling to help to&nbsp; identify what type of low-carbon solutions would be acceptable to the&nbsp; planning authorities.
